Citibank
We documented some of NYC’s movers and shakers and how Citibike helps them go through their day.
Then, Citi installed JoyTM’s throughout NYC. We documented how the public interacted with these machines, both at concerts they put on at their branches, and at a large-scale installation in Times Square.
When we shot at Timesquare, we arrived at 9AM, and had our 8k footage playing on a Times Square building-sized screen by noon! This required having an editor on site and editing in real time.
Dawn
Dawn Dishwashing Detergent brought us on to not only document their huge event, but to craft something cinematic out of it. Their goal was to create something as epic as their task: clean an entire town’s worth of dishes (over 6,000!) with one bottle of Dawn.
So, we suggested the use of drones, cranes, and cable cams to tell the story of the length of table they used (over 5 city blocks), and the sheer number of people they fed. We crafted specific shots to communicate the epic nature of what they were doing, and then we unleashed multiple camera crews to go out and interview different people to capture their experience as well.
And all of this had to be accomplished during a live event, with real people on hand. We planned the shoot day meticulously, and made sure we got the specific washing and product shots that were needed, as well as planning when we could get our cable cam, and crane shots. We were also able to direct the placement of the tables and dishes to best tell our visual story.
In the end, the agency cut a broadcast :30 and a digital :90 from the footage,
Charmin
The Charmin Relief Project brought us on to tell three of their event stories.
First, they brought high-end portable bathrooms to the beach. Rather than just shoot b-roll of the event and cut a piece out of it, we wanted to inject some humor into the situation. So, we brought on a fake newscaster, and shot this as a parody of a local news station. Our arrogant newscaster “interviewed” people and got to the bottom of the terrible beach bathroom story!
While we cast our host, everyone else in the film is from the location. We relied completely on real people for this piece.
Second, the Charmin Relief Project donated rolls of toilet paper to a fire station that lost everything as a result of Hurricane Sandy. We documented the delivery of the toilet paper, and, again, injected some humor into the situation. We worked with the actual fire fighters in telling this story, and even accompanied them on an actual call they got in the middle of filming!
Lastly, the Charmin Relief project set up their high end bathrooms in the parking lot of a Denver Broncos game. We documented it, and told the story of what happens when you’re stuck at a tailgating party with no proper bathroom!
Red Lobster
Red Lobster through a Lobsterworthy contest on their Facebook page, allowing consumers to vote for the story that was most deserving of a lobster dinner celebration. We travelled to Detroit to tell Antoinette’s story, and learn what it takes for her to break a stack of 9 cinder blocks.
